What a Typical Lesson Looks Like
Each lesson includes a preflight briefing, the flight itself and a debrief. Early lessons focus on aircraft control and radio calls with KFXE tower; later lessons cover navigation, emergencies and cross-country flights.
Your First Flight Lesson
Your first lesson usually starts with a discovery flight. You'll walk around the aircraft with an instructor, learn the basic controls, taxi, and take the controls in the air over the Fort Lauderdale coastline. Many students are surprised how quickly they can fly straight and level on day one.
Aircraft You'll Train In
Lessons are flown in company-owned Cessna 172 Skyhawks (including G1000 glass cockpits), Piper Archers and Piper Warriors. Multi engine students train in a Piper Seneca and Beechcraft Duchess. All aircraft are maintained in-house at KFXE.

KFXE is a towered airport close to Miami and Palm Beach airspace, so you learn to talk to ATC and operate around busy traffic from the start. Nearby practice areas over the Everglades and coastline give plenty of room for maneuvers, and local airports like Pompano Beach, Boca Raton and North Perry are ideal for landing practice.
How Often Should You Take Lessons?
Flying at least two to three times a week is the most efficient way to learn. Longer gaps mean more review at the start of each lesson, which adds hours and cost. Full-time students who fly almost daily progress fastest.
What You Need to Get Started
Bring a government ID and proof of U.S. citizenship (or TSA approval for international students). You don't need a medical certificate for your first lessons, but you'll need one before your first solo. We recommend a headset, logbook and the FAA study materials, which are covered in the books and exam fees.
