What Is a Discovery Flight?
A discovery flight is your chance to experience flying a real aircraft for the first time — with no commitment and no prior experience required. You will sit in the pilot's seat, take the controls, and fly over the beautiful Fort Lauderdale coastline with a certified flight instructor guiding you every step of the way.
At My Flight Time, discovery flights depart from Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport (KFXE). You will fly one of our Cessna 172 aircraft along the South Florida shoreline, seeing the beaches, Intracoastal Waterway, and downtown Fort Lauderdale from a perspective most people never experience.
A discovery flight typically lasts 30 to 60 minutes and includes a pre-flight briefing where your instructor explains the basics of aircraft operation, a flight where you actually fly the airplane, and a debrief where you can ask questions about flight training.

Discovery flights are perfect for anyone curious about aviation — whether you are considering a career as a pilot, looking for a unique experience, or want to give the gift of flight to someone special. There are no age restrictions (minors need parental consent), no medical requirements, and no prior knowledge needed.
Many of our current students started with a discovery flight. It is the best way to find out if flying is something you want to pursue before committing to a full training program. If you decide to continue training, the flight time from your discovery flight counts toward your Private Pilot License.

Discovery flights at My Flight Time are available 7 days a week. Contact us to schedule your flight at a time that works for you. We recommend morning flights for the calmest air and best visibility.
Pricing includes the aircraft rental, fuel, and instructor. Ask about our current discovery flight special when you book. Gift certificates are also available — a discovery flight makes an unforgettable birthday, graduation, or holiday gift.
