30 minutes south from Boca Raton via I-95 • 300+ VFR days/year • 12hrs/day, 7 days/week
Boca Raton pilots benefit from being positioned between two major aviation hubs — Palm Beach International (KPBI) to the north and Fort Lauderdale Executive (KFXE) to the south. My Flight Time at KFXE is approximately 30 minutes south via I-95.
Boca Raton is the midpoint between KPBI and KFXE, giving MFT students from Boca easy access to diverse cross-country training. Short hops to both airports build ATC communication skills in different tower environments, and the Boca Raton Airport (KBCT) itself provides additional pattern work options.
Full program lineup: PPL ($11,900), IR ($11,800), CPL ($4,050–$11,100), CFI ($5,800), and time building from $60/hr. Many Boca Raton students choose our accelerated programs and commute daily.
Boca Raton students usually start with the Private Pilot program, add an instrument rating, then move into the Commercial Pilot program or the Airline Pilot Program. Career-track pilots close the hour gap with time building at KFXE — every rate is listed on our pricing page, and the aircraft you will fly are on the fleet page.
Year-round flying in South Florida. No winter cancellations, minimal weather delays, and long daylight hours for maximum training efficiency.
Boca students take I-95 south and exit at Commercial Boulevard — about eighteen miles, and typically twenty-five to thirty minutes outside of peak hours. If you live west of Military Trail, the Sawgrass Expressway to I-95 is often faster in the afternoon. Tri-Rail's Deerfield Beach station is a practical backup for students without a car.
Because the commute is short, Boca students tend to fly three shorter sessions per week rather than long single-day blocks — a pattern that suits students still finishing degrees at FAU or Lynn. Ground school and oral prep are scheduled back-to-back with flights so you make one trip, not two. Accelerated students commute daily for four to six weeks and skip accommodations entirely.
Boca Raton Airport (KBCT) sits right in the middle of the training area, so it becomes a natural first solo destination and a regular stop for pattern work. From there students commonly work north to KPBI for Class C sequencing practice, west to KPMP for uncontrolled-field procedures, and south to KFLL when they need a Class C arrival with airline traffic in the mix. That north-to-south spread means Boca students rarely repeat the same route twice during cross-country training.
Driving in from somewhere else in South Florida? These pages cover commute times and local routes for nearby cities:
About 18 miles south of Boca — normally a 25 to 30 minute drive down I-95 to the Commercial Blvd exit. Boca students often fly weekday mornings, when the southbound drive is quickest and the pattern at KFXE is least congested.
Yes. We offer flexible scheduling including weekends and evenings.
While there are smaller operations nearby, MFT at KFXE offers the combination of competitive pricing, fleet size, and 12-hour daily availability that most schools cannot match.
